An exceptional example of mid-to-late Victorian craftsmanship, this hinged bangle bracelet, crafted circa 1865–1885 likely of UK origin, is a striking expression of colour, texture, and symbolic design.
Made from high-carat gold (XRF-tested as approximately 20ct gold), the bracelet features a vivid sky blue vitreous enamel ground, dramatically centred by an 8-point star. At its heart sits an old mine cut diamond (approx. 3 x 2.5mm), surrounded by four angel skin coral cabochons and framed with eight rose-cut diamonds that accentuate each star point. On either side, 6-point star motifs, each set with a coral cabochon, add symmetry and charm.
The Etruscan Revival metalwork showcases filigree detailing, rope-twist and beaded accents, and fine milgrain granulation—testament to the artisanal skill of the period.
Substantial in feel at 32.53g, the bangle measures 31mm at its widest point and tapers to 9.5mm at the back for comfortable wear. The internal diameter is 16cm (6.30 inches), and the tongue clasp clicks securely into place.
Unmarked, as often seen with bespoke or small atelier creations of the era, this bracelet is almost certainly a unique commission. Rare, wearable, and impeccably preserved—an exquisite collector's piece in excellent antique condition.
